My Infertility Cure
I tried many different things to get pregnant during the years I couldn’t conceive and was finally flat out told by my doctor that I was just not going to get pregnant without more medical intervention (we had already endured over a year of that). One night I found a thread on a TTC message board about a woman whose story was very similar to mine and she had conceived after visiting a naturopath who had written a book called Eating Alive. His name was Dr. Jonn Matsen and she began following his diet and taking some vitamins and supplements that he had prescribed. Even though I had given up on such things the Lord gave me a fresh desire to go on and I felt I should try this approach. The diet was an elimination diet which involved taking things out of your diet such as white sugar, coffee, tea, chocolate, etc. and other foods that are difficult for many to digest properly. The diet was all about getting your liver functioning at its best. The vitamins and supplements were extra vitamin c, wheat germ oil, acidopholus and indolplex. I began the diet as a kind of new years resolution on the first day of January. It was difficult but not too bad. I started the vitamins, too, but had to order the indolplex and didn’t have it in time to use it the first month. The diet made me feel better but I got AF at the end of the month and was disappointed. In the meantime, my indolplex came and I began it at the beginning of that cycle. I conceived that very month. I know that the diet and other vitamins helped but it wasn’t until the indolplex was introduced did I actually conceive.
Fast forward a couple of years later and my dh and I are both feeling like we want another baby but neither of us wants to go through the agony of infertility again. Finally, though my dh decides (on Christmas Eve) that we should go for it. We hadn’t been doing anything to prevent pregnancy up until that point but I had been nursing my son and had only had a couple of periods. I had just weaned him a few weeks before our decision. We thought we would try the diet again and order some more indolplex. I discovered then that it had a new name. I have to admit that the second time around I had a much harder time sticking to the diet. I still began eating much healthier , eliminating most of the sugar in my diet, especially, but I wasn’t following the diet very much at all other than that. I also wasn’t taking any of the vitamins except for the acidopholus and again didn’t have the Estrobalance right away since I had to order it. I got AF after the first few weeks of the diet and then got my Estrobalance and conceived right away. I just can’t believe that it is a coincidence that it worked so quickly both times especially after trying nearly everything to get pregnant for so long.I haven’t looked recently but I know that when I was thinking about trying the Estrobalance I couldn’t find any info on it being used for infertility at all. I couldn’t even find the thread that I got the info from (good thing I printed it out). After I conceived and told my RE what I had used he had no idea what it was. I can say that it worked for us, though, and we believe it was a direct blessing from the Lord. We now have 2 beautiful healthy children as a result of taking it.
I don’t know if it would work for your situation but I would LOVE for other woman to be blessed by it, too. I always try to put the word out about it if someone is interested because I know that if someone hadn’t done that a few years ago I may not have ever known that such a thing existed. I would never want to push someone into trying something but I also don’t want anyone to miss a blessing by keeping my story all to myself. So, anyway, there’s my story…do with it what you will. I apologize for the length but I am a bit passionate about this subject! Whatever you and your dh decide to do the most important thing is to keep the Lord first and live in total surrender to His will. That was the hardest struggle for me during the years we were trying to conceive because it was so easy to allow that desire for a baby to consume so much of my thinking. The Lord didn’t give me this answer until I was totally surrendered.
As far as the supplements go they were:Estrobalance-1 2xdaily
Liquid Calcium/Magnesium- 1/2 tsp at breakfast and bedtime
Wheatgerm oil -1 2xdaily (I couldn’t do this after the first try and stopped it…but if you have any history of miscarriage it is greatly recommended)
Acidophilus (calidophilus if you can’t take dairy). These help put back the beneficial bacteria into your digestive system. Take 1 capsule each morning with warm water or unsweetened herbal tea at least 20-30 minutes before breakfast and 1 at bedtime on a relatively empty stomach. Store in the fridge. Also, if you take with food, the bacteria will be destroyed.
Vitamin C (500mg with biflavinoids) 1 2xdaily (I stopped this, too, after reading some conflicting material about high doses of vitamin C inhibiting fertility, although I don’t think this dosage is too high anymore)
I don’t know how well all these supplements would work without following the diet. I followed it to the “t” while trying to conceive the first time but with my last successful pregnancy I was not following it completely. I did, however, cut out all white sugar (natural sweeteners such as honey in small amounts are okay), chocolate, coffee, black tea (japanese green tea is encouraged), and preservatives. Alcohol and tobacco are also no-nos but I didn’t have to cut them out since I don’t use them.
If you decide to try this I would recommend the book. It has recipes in it that were very helpful when trying to eat that way. There is also info about eating certain foods with other foods (food combining) and even timing on when foods should be eaten. It is a very strict and difficult diet but I never had to do it for more than a few weeks which was nice! Also, I have included links to purchase Estrobalance, since even though I live in an area full of health food stores, I was unable to purchase it locally. All of the other supplements were readily available but I had to order the Estrobalance. I’ve included a link to the best price I could find online. Please, if you decide to try this approach, let me know! I want to hear your story.
God Bless!
